1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They help remember you between sessions (e.g., your chosen language).
2. Cookies youself.io uses
2.1 Strictly necessary
Without these the site doesn’t work correctly. They don’t require consent.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifespan | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
yio_locale | Remember your chosen language. If unset, we auto-detect from browser (RU → EN) | 1 year | First-party, HTTP only |
2.2 Analytics (optional)
Requires consent. Currently disabled by default.
| Service | Cookies | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Plausible Analytics | No cookies. No fingerprinting. | Privacy-friendly. Collects only aggregated data (country, referrer, device). No personal identification. |
Plausible doesn’t set cookies — it’s GDPR-friendly analytics out of the box. So no banner is needed at this stage.
2.3 What we do NOT use
- ❌ Google Analytics
- ❌ Facebook Pixel / Meta tracking
- ❌ TikTok Pixel
- ❌ Hotjar / Microsoft Clarity (for now)
- ❌ Third-party advertising cookies
- ❌ Cross-site tracking
3. How to manage cookies
Via your browser
All modern browsers let you block or delete cookies. How — depends on the browser:
Via our site
If you delete the yio_locale cookie, we’ll show the browser-default language on your next visit. There are no post-installation trackers to remove — there simply aren’t any.
4. Local storage (localStorage / sessionStorage)
We currently do not use localStorage/sessionStorage in production. If that changes, we’ll update this policy.
5. Changes to this policy
We don’t email about minor changes (to avoid spam). Current version lives at https://youself.io/cookies. Last-updated date at the top.
